Working towards a more sustainable future was something that Maud Stet was looking for earlier in her career in marketing. Today, she is living her career dreams true in a role that inspires her, enables her to take ownership, and make an impact for a greener future. How did she end up at FiksuruokaâFoodello and how is she concretely contributing to our mission?
Before joining FiksuruokaâFoodello, Maud Stet had been building her career in big corporates. Even though she had enjoyed her marketing roles, she found herself thinking about the sustainable aspects of her work.
âWas I really working for something that makes our future better and greener?â, Maud remembers wondering. âEven though we had goals for sustainability with my previous employers, in the corporate world, things just took too much time to my tasteâ, she says.
Maud has always had a passion to take a stand for a more sustainable future. Her interest in sustainability initially started when she was studying marketing in the fashion industry. âI took a course that focused on how the fashion industry could be more sustainable. Then something clicked and I realized that we have to do something for our planetâ, she says.
Maud wanted to be able to truly make an impact for a better future â and the quicker the better.
Fast forward, we contacted her at the beginning of 2022 when we had just opened our new market in the Netherlands. At that time, we hadnât even launched our new brand name Foodello.
âI was introduced to a job opportunity in a ânamelessâ company which was quite funnyâ, Maud laughs and continues: âHowever, the company mission and the role sounded extremely inspiring. It sounded like something I had wanted to do but didnât know what to look for.â
In April 2022, we shook hands and Maud jumped on board with us!
As our first Marketing Campaign Manager in the Netherlands, she is responsible for all-things-marketing. âThere is a lot on my plate, but I like the variety my job offersâ, Maud smiles when asked about her responsibilities.
Basically, her tasks could be divided into operational and creative tasks.
Operational tasks are weekly actions, such as planning and creating customer emails, newsletters, and text messages. âThese tasks require me to cooperate with other teams. For example, the procurement team gives me information about upcoming products in the store so that I can plan a campaign around itâ, Maud explains and adds: âI am also in charge of the influencer marketing and handle advertisements to Meta and TikTok.â
Creative tasks include composing ideas for marketing and filling in ideas for the yearly campaign calendar. âSometimes there is a need for a new campaign page or new visuals for advertisementsâ, she says. According to Maud, this creative side is one of her favorite things that bring variety to the weekly re-occurring tasks.
To put it roughly, how marketing works, it increases something in the world â and it might not always be good.
âThe more we are able to sell, itâs the opposite way, as we are decreasing food waste.â
âHowever, the more we are able to sell, itâs the opposite way, as we are decreasing food waste. And giving our customer a chance to save money same timeâ, Maud says. She sees this concretely when she sends an email campaign to our customers. âOur sales always get a lift on those daysâ, Maud points out.
Since Maud started, she has been an essential part of our growth in the Netherlands.
Growing awareness about our mission and building a brand from scratch in a new market has been fun but also a demanding challenge. âIt has definitely required some extra muscles. We had to come up with innovative ideas with a limited budgetâ, she explains and adds: âHowever, these kinds of big challenges keep me motivated.â
âOne of the best and most valuable parts of my job is working together with other countries because we learn so much from each other.â
Luckily, today Maud has a partner-in-crime handle everything on her table. She works closely with our French-speaking Marketing Campaign Manager, Sarah Bels. This duo shares the responsibility in Belgiumâs different areas. âOne of the best and most valuable parts of my job is working together with other countries because we learn so much from each otherâ, she says.
So, now Maud gets to work for something she actually believes in.
âTo be honest, I never thought working in a sustainable company could be this fresh, young, and inspiringâ, she laughs.
